Why Tutoring?
After working with hundreds of students over the last several years as a Math Interventionist and Math Tutor, I have found so many students have not mastered the basics so that they can continue to excel as each level of math becomes more challenging.
Why Math?
It became apparent to me that I like problem solving, and I enjoy the practicality of math and the fact that often we can check our work by what I call the “common sense” approach. Many of my students/clients have discovered that by just asking the question “does this answer make sense?” they will uncover careless errors or confirm in fact their answer is correct.

Math has a right answer: 2+2 is always going to be 4. The challenge for many students is making math relatable – why should they care if 2 + 2 is 4? My job is to help them care by using examples that are engaging and fun.
Why Me?
I am fortunate to have worked many years in education and in the business world. I understand the importance of knowledge and how critical math skills are to any profession. So many students have math anxiety, and the sooner they overcome this, the sooner they will not only succeed, but thrive in the subject.

I encourage my students to hold themselves accountable, to put the calculator away (until they master the basics) and to practice, practice, practice! I provide resources for students (from flash cards to videos) and help them to gain confidence so that they will succeed!
